Every now and then, an artist comes along whose vocal abilities belie their age. Well, don’t "kid" yourself about Pop music’s beautiful new Wonder Girl... although only eighteen years old, Jacynthe (pronounced Jah-saint) has a lifetime of singing experience behind her. Born and raised in Quebec, she began singing at three, and wrote her first song at the tender age of seven! |
Most people though, have only lately discovered this young sensation, thanks to the huge success of the singles "This Is The Night", and her most recent smash "One More Time", a track that is sitting pretty on CHR charts nationally, and enjoying heavy video rotation. It was also recorded in French, as "Encore Une Fois". Her first invasion on the house/dancemusic scene was the hit "Try My Love", recorded, and released when she was sixteen. Now, two years, and three chart-topping singles later comes the album "I GOT WHAT IT TAKES".
Thanks to the huge TOP40 radio success of the singles "This Is The Night" and "One More Time", the latter having spent 17 weeks on the TOP40 chart and reached the #2 position on the Musique Plus video play chart for 5 weeks straight!
Jacynthe is by no means
an overnight success. She has been working hard and fast to gain the popularity
and respect she so treasures today. She spent her youth singing in choirs,
including three years as the soloist in a gospel choir, and is an avid
opera lover. For over a year, Jacynthe has also sung the national anthems
at all "Montreal Impact" soccer games. Her music has been included
on several major compilation releases, and licensed worldwide.
I GOT WHAT IT TAKES features the current single,
a re-make of KC and The Sunshine Band’s classic "Give It Up". In fact,
having just finished a glamour photo-shoot in one of Quebec’s leading fashion
magazines, Jacynthe caught a last minute flight to Miami to literally pull
KC out of a hospital bed (back surgery) to record and shoot this video.
KC fell in love with Jacynthe the moment he saw her. Now that’s a story
to write about!
"Give It Up" has climbed the Contemporary Hit Radio chart to its present position (#33 and climbing) in just 5 short weeks. |

The album "I GOT WHAT IT TAKES" features her multi-lingual abilities, where she sings in English, French and Italian. A Pop/Dance interpretation of the track "Piu Bella Cosa"(originally recorded by Italian superstar Eros Ramazotti), is outstanding, as is the re-make of KC and The Sunshine Band’s "Give It Up". Six original songs are also included, composed and produced by Michael A. and Paul Galati, (her solid writing team), once again offering their commercially flavored grooves. The album was mastered at the prestigious Absolute Audio Studios in New York (Madonna, Robyn, N-Synch, Ace Of Bass, La Bouche, and Toni Braxton).
Jacynthe will be touring Canada as the opening act for 98 Degrees in February/March 1999. A full press blitz is in the works for the first quarter of the new year as Jacynthe prepares for her Western TV debut on the Gabereau Show (CTV) in January 1999.
If talent, personality, and beauty are the
components by which success is measured, then there’s no question - Jacynthe’s
got what it takes!
